Acceptable Use Policy
Draft wording, awaiting legal review. It may change before launch.
DRAFT for lawyer review. Replace [brackets] before publishing.
You may
- Send order updates, receipts, appointment reminders, delivery notices and promotions to your own customers.
- Send promotions to people who have given you their number to be contacted.
You may not
- Message people who have not dealt with you or agreed to hear from you (no bought, scraped or borrowed lists).
- Send scams, fake giveaways, advance-fee or "send money to receive money" messages, or anything meant to trick people out of money or codes.
- Pretend to be a bank, mobile-money provider, telecom, government body, or another business.
- Send unlawful, threatening, hateful, sexual or misleading content, or content about illegal goods.
- Send campaign messages between [8pm] and [7am] Ghana time unless they are transactional.
- Keep messaging someone who has asked you to stop.
- Use sender names that resemble phone numbers, short codes, banks or public bodies.
- Try to bypass our checks, share your account, or resell the service without our written agreement.
Opt-out
Every promotional message must give people a way to stop, for example: "Reply STOP to 0XX… or tell us at [number]". Add anyone who opts out to your Do-Not-Message list; Chen SMS will block sending to numbers on that list.
What we do about abuse
- New accounts start with a daily sending limit that rises as you build a clean record.
- We may hold a campaign for review if it looks like spam or fraud (many recipients, suspicious links, sudden changes in behaviour).
- Complaints from recipients or operators are investigated. Repeated or serious breaches lead to suspension, and we may report fraud to the authorities.
